REALbasic Items

MaxiToolbar Pro 1.4
With MaxiToolbar Pro, REALbasic developers can add Mac OS X-style toolbars to their Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, and Microsoft Windows applications. Even though the cross-platform classes emulate Mac OS X toolbars, they include appearance optimizations for both Mac OS 9 and Windows. Windows developers will find MaxiToolbar Pro to be well suited for Windows XP applications.

GZip Plugin
The GZip plugin written by Norman Palardy and contributed to by Kevin Ballard has been updated to support Window platforms. In REALbasic 5.5 the plugin provides a new module, GZip with methods and constants. The plugin has been revamped to provide only a small number of global methods in versions of REAlbasic 5.2.4 and earlier. Both versions now provide a GZipStream class that provides methods for reading compressed files and writing to compressed files. Files that are NOT gzip encoded can be read using this class because the GZIP plugin will not do anything to a file that is not gzip encoded.

PDF Classes v1.0
PDF Classes from Fireye Software are a set of free open source classes for generating PDFs from your REALbasic app. These classes are written entirely in REALbasic, and make it easy to create PDFs on any platform. With very little code, you can make a PDF with text, straight lines, bezier curves, rectangles, circles, and images. They use no plugins and no declares, so they are completely cross platform!

Made With REALbasic

Insist announced the release of iSticky 1.3, a cool little application that combines internet with sticking notes on your desktop. With iSticky, a new way has been created to send small messages to each other by being able to stick them on each others' desktops! New in 1.3 is a menubar extra, improved local sticky creation, a bit of sprucing up, and more. iSticky costs $22.95.

Front End Digital Media Workshop v1.0

The batch/play list-based architecture allows you to work with 1 to 99 files. Dozens of popular digital image, movie, and sound file formats can be imported. Playback and presentation features include full screen video, play list looping, variable speed shuttle control, bass treble volume and balance controls. Front End Digital Media Workshop is available for Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, and Windows 2000/XP.

Belle Nuit Montage releases its new program Imagefilter. Imagefilter is a program to batch-process image sequences. It containes a node interface to build process trees and a variety of nodes to import, color correct, filter, transform images and to add graphic effects. Imagefilter is immediately available for Macintosh G4 and G5 with system 10.2 or 10.3. Demo licenses are fully functional but output is limited to a size of 512 * 384 pixel. Unlimited online licenses cost 120 USD per seat or 600 USD for site licenses.

Solo Performer Show Controller
Solo Performer Show Controller is a 6-button foot pedal device that connects to laptop computers via a USB connection. On the computer, play lists of backing audio files are created and played, along with lyric displays and lightshow events. The foot controller allows the musician to control the backing audio and lights in a hands-free manner while performing live on stage. Solo Performer Show Controller software is made with REALbasic from REAL Software, Inc. Solo Performer Show Controller is available for both Windows and Macintosh computer systems.

Entertainment Plus More, Inc. has released an enhanced version of Math Flash Card Master, a shareware program that aids practice and testing of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Math Flash Card Master can be adjusted to different knowledge levels, and includes optional sounds and timer features.

Seth's News

Sorry for the lack of news on Tuesday and the lack of a tutorial today. This past week has been a bit of a busy one. On Tuesday my best friend graduated from high school so as you can imagine there was much mischeif and mayhem there, and this weekend I'm house and dog sitting for my much older cousin. I had totally forgotten about ResExcellence until I came home to get some breakfast (at high noon!), so be thankful I was hungry! :^)

Next week I'll more than likely have a tutorial for you Wednesday, however I'll be at the developer conference (WWDC) so there won't be any news for a week and a half (I may be able to get on and post some bits if I find the time, but I'm sure I'll busy either learning, programming, or sleeping).
