Update to KDE 1.1.2 and add theme support LinuxPPC 1999 ships with version version 1.1 of KDE. If you would like to add support for the newer themes with the K-Theme Manager, you need to move up to version 1.1.2 To start, you will need to download the 14 rpm's that comprise KDE 1.1.2. They total about 26 megs in size. Once you have them on your a Linux partition, change into the directory with the new KDE 1.1.2 files. First, we will install the libraries. Type the following command:
Then QT: rpm -i qt*.rpm --force After those are finished, it is time for KDE. Type: rpm -i kde*.rpm --force This will take a while and when it's finished, you may be left with a few dozen backup files in your KDE directories called .rpmsave. You can view them all at once using the FIND application, then just move these to the trash. If you haven't done so already, take a look at these previous instructions for selling KDE as your default desktop. After installation, restart to be certain everything loads correctly. Under the Desktop Settings control panel, you will have a new settings choice for themes!
Now that you have KDE 1.1.2 installed, head over to kde.themes.org and pick out a few favorites for installation.
