General Guidelines: Updated January 16th, 2005
Submissions must have a contact name.
This doesn't have to be your real name, you can use a web handle if that suits your needs.
Submissions must contain a valid email address.
This is so we can contact you should you win a prize or if your submission has technical glitches that need fixing before we toss them up on a page. Our privacy policy guarantees you that we won't share your email address with any third party. In addition, to protect your privacy, we will never post your email address anywhere on the site.
Not required but nice to have.
Take credit for your original works of art! You deserve it. If you've used source materials for your art be sure to give proper credit to those sources along with appropiate web links. Your read me file is important stuff. Be sure to give us some details on your creation; inspiration, how it came to be or whatever... C'mon, throw us a bone! It'll help us give a little splash of flavour to the front page description.
Courtesy and respect for copyrighted matierials.
If your art is a derivative work of someone else's art you must obtain permission from that artist to redistribute the modifed image. The artist may be thrilled to see what you've done, if the artist doesn't write back don't assume that to be a "yes" answer.
Fan art is acceptable as it relates to pop culture, sports and other stuff along those lines but keep in mind some copyright holders may ask us to remove items that may infringe upon their property, a rare occurence, but a genuine possibility too.
Thanks for listening and feel free to drop us a note if clarification is needed.
Compression Formats
We're currently accepting files compressed in the following formats; .zip, .sit, .sitx and .dmg. In most instances we'll repost the archives in .zip format with an occasional of .dmg.
Many of our older files (and some newer) are posted as .sit files, you may need to download Stuffit Expander to decompress them.
Desktop Snapshots
Put together a particularly cool desktop snapshot and upload your contribution using our web upload page.
- Computer model and hardware info.
- OS Version - we'll take any OS but Windows, you've been warned! :^)
- Cool programs displayed.
- Theme or Scheme.
- Icons and Desktop Picture.
- URL to your site (optional).
- Any other cool info you may have.
Please help out by providing URLs for the most important elements in your snapshot.
No requirements on size but if it gets larger than 1600 x 1200 pixels we may size it down at our option.
Icons
Please include your name, email address, your website URL and the title of the icon set. Compress your submission and send to us via our upload page.
Desktop Pictures and Patterns
Please include your name, email address, your website URL and the title of your creation. You can send as many desktop resolutions as you like, here's a list of guidelines;
- The basic package should have at least one desktop in 4:3 ratio, prefferably 1600 x 1200. A copy at 1024 x 768 is also quite acceptable as an additional image.
- Even though 1280 x 1024 may be an oddball size we do have a good chunk of readers who do use that resolution, this size would be a good addtion to a desktops package.
- Let's not forget those who have monitors that use a widescreen format, 1600 x 1024 would work for most users in that category.
- Want to include something even bigger? 1920 x 1200 would be wonderful!
Don't forget to include a ReadMe file with your desktop pictures and patterns. Compress your submission and send to us via our upload page.
All Other Items
Please include your name, email address, your website URL and the title of your creation. Compress your submission and send to us via our upload page.
Some items may need to be saved in appropiate file formats, chances are you are already educated about this but if not you'll need to examine similar items or drop us a note if you have any questions.
Please Don't Send Us
