Delete the Google Search Field in Safari 2.0

The question was originally asked by forum guest Freeman... "Anyone know how to remove that obnoxious Google from the Safari taskbar without removing the address box along with it? They seem to be inseparably connected!"
In previous versions of Safari it was just a matter of using the "Customize Address Bar" command in the View menu. Not so in Safari 2.0, the Google search field is locked hand-in-hand with the address field. Fortunately, all we need to do is modify a nib file using Interface Builder to banish Google from the address bar.
Open up Safari's package contents and navigate to the ToolbarItems.nib located within the English.lproj (or your preffered language project) folder.
Archive the ToolbarItems.nib in place so you have a backup file in place, then open the original with Interface Builder.
Double-click the combined Address Bar field/Google Search field on the Google end, hit the delete key and close the file. This only needs to be done on the top combo field.

That's it! Launch Safair and be Google free.
