Work/Life 2 is a directory of illustrators from around the world. This book features the work and life of 100 illustrators from all walks of life. The book is printed in Canada and published by UPPERCASE Publishing. Each illustrator profile details the individual and their work, and also showcases the office or studio where the illustrators work.
The page layout is fantastic, the colors are vibrant, and the vast amount of work on display in this book is inspiring and interesting for anyone, even those with only a slight interest in design. There is such a variety of work in this book, it has a broad appeal. According to the publisher, the first edition of this book is popular among art directors across the world. The aim of the book is to set apart these 100 illustrators from the thousands across the world. As such, the work featured in the book is only the best.
It’s great to flick through and admire what other people have achieved, and it’s also interesting to see where people work. From what I could tell, the vast majority use a Mac to carry out their work. Some have clean desk areas, some are more cluttered. Some are modern, whereas others are more traditional.
iPhone App
A companion to the book is available for free on the iTunes App Store. In the app, you can view artwork from all the illustrators, search by region and style, and follow news from UPPERCASE. Both the book and app include a range of talents, some fresh from school, some returning back into the work groove after raising families, and some hardworking creatives whose career already span a few decades.
