I think I know what you are asking. AOL has a
proprietary format for a lot of the images
displayed online, and saving these as ART
files means you can't open them in another
viewer. This is something ResEdit can't help
you with. Use the Picture Gallery feature in
your AOL menu to open the ART file. Then use
insert to insert it into a new e-mail. Click
and hold on the image in the e-mail and it
will give you an option to save it as a PICT.
Once it is a PICT file, you can change it
into any format your graphics program
supports. Hopefully they will make it easier

Make sure AOL is not running. Then, using ResEdit, open up the "US Data" file after you have made a copy of it. In there you will find the splash screen and most of the icons, windows and text strings. Copy and Paste the images as desired into your favorite applications and covert to your hearts content. If there are any other files interesting to hack I would like to know, but I have search through most of them.

I have hacked most of AOL, mostly out of spite, but I am not sure what you are asking.
