Edit the Extensions Manger to show all items
When I want to disable certain extensions, I often also want to move any associated help files and libraries to the disabled folder. Conflict Catcher makes this possible by allowing you to add file types for it to recognize , but what about Apple's Extension Manager?
This edit will allow you to show all the items in the folders, and selectively hide others.
Open a copy of the Extensions Manager control panel.
Find the eXnt resource and open it with a double-click.
There is only one ID, number -4033.
Open it with a double click.
This is a listing of all the four letter File Types that the Extensions Manager ignores. Many of them may look familiar.
Select all of them (command-A), and delete them.
Unfortunately, this will allow the Finder and System to be recognized, and you may accidentally disable them...
... so type back in the file type for those two only.
Finder = FNDR
System suitcase = zsys
If there are any other file types you don't want to see, enter their types. For example, if your FAX software put a zillion modem scripts in the Extensions folder, you can hide all of them from the Extensions Manager by adding mlts.

Save your work and quit ResEdit. There is no need to restart, just replace the old Manager with the new one and you're ready to go. |
