| GoMac: rename the Start menu and change the side graphic.
Somehow, we're going to squeeze a few more edits out of GoMac! These two were submitted by Anthony Saxton and Steve Wolf.
The first modification allows you to rename the Start Menu to whatever you would like from the PopUp menu in the Control Panel.
To begin, open a copy of GoMac in ResEdit. Find the MENU resources and open them with a double-click.

Find MENU ID#-4062 and open it with a double-click.
From the Resource Menu, select Create New Item. This will place a new empty menu item at the bottom of the list. In the Text box, enter your new name for the Start button. In this example, I'm adding "Coyle's Powerbook".
You cn add as many new names as you want, and even a separator line in addition to text.
When you're done adding items, grab them with the cursor and drag them around in the menu to reorder the items. When you're finished, close all the menu resources.

In newer version of GoMac, the sidebar image is stored in the GoMac extension as a PICT resource with ID# -13152. Chris prepared a template with additional instructions for you to download.
Next, find the cicn resources and open them with a double-click.
Find ID#-13151 and open it with a double-click.
This is the graphic that appears along the left side of the extended Start menu.
Using the icon tools, you can modify it to say whatever your would like.
In this example, I changed it to reflect my current OS version.
Don't forget to copy the modified icon into the B&W and Mask positions.
Once you've modified the cicn, close all the windows and save your work. Replace the original GoMac control panel with the new one and restart the computer.
You can now select your new name and will see the new icon in the menu.
