Using AppleScript to Position Icons.
If you use any of the beautiful desktop pictures from BlueSky Heart Graphics or other artists, and they have the icon dock areas as shown below, you've noticed how the some of the icons reset their positions after restarts.
My Desktop all nice and neat - the way I like it.
(notice the PC Card modem tucked in at the bottom)

After a restart, the icons for the two hard disks and PC Card modem have moved back to their default positions in the upper right corner!

To fix the problem and have the icons automatically move to your prefered position, open Apple's Script Editor and push the Record button.
One by one, drag the icons where you want them. You'll see your actions appear in the editor. When you're finished, save the script as an Application (without a startup screen), and put the new applet in the Startup Items Folder.

Everytime you restart the computer, the icons will be repositioned and your desktop will always look great!
