Reordering Sherlock Plugins. Dave Johnson asks, "Is there any way to reorder the manner in which Sherlock lists it's plug-ins? Changing the name of the plug-in in the 'Internet Search Sites' folder in the "System" folder doesn't have any effect to the name as it appears in Sherlock" Yes there is. First, if you don't already have it, head over to the Macintosh Resource Page's Software Page and download "BBEdit Lite". This editor will let you modify the Sherlock text without changing any of the other resources. In this example, we will move the ResExcellence Sherlock Plugin to its appropriate position at top of the list. :)Open the plugin in BBEdit. One of the first lines is: name = "ResExcellence" This is what Sherlock uses to alphabetize the listing. By placing additional spaces at the front of the name, as shown in the graphic, you can move an item to the top of the list. Conversely, placing a bullet (Option-8) at the front of a name will move it to the bottom of the list.As shown in the graphic at left, ResExcellence is now at the top of the list - where it belongs! |
