Change the colors in GoMac 1.6.
Andrew Oliver is a hero for pointing out that the colors for GoMac 1.6 are stored in a CLUT resource.
Under GoMac 2.0.3, the CLUT is stored in the ACTION GoMac extension in the Extensions folder.
To help me coordinate and select the colors, I used a snapshot of a menu. These are the colors I want to use:

If I position this graphic off to the side of my monitor, I can sample colors right off of it from Apple's Color Picker.
Time to look at GoMac.
Open a copy of the control panel with ResEdit.
Find the clut resource and open them with a double-click.

Open ID# -13152
This is the clut window. Clicking one of the seven color squares will bring up Apple's Color Picker.
You can select a new color by holding the Option key, the cursor turns into an eye-dropper, letting you pick a color from our menu screen snapshot (shown above).
Here are what the clut colors correspond to:
1 - Top line, bottom bevel
2- Main background color
3 - Text color
4 - Upper light bevel
5 - bottom bevel
6 - No idea!
7 - Divider used for info menu (not shown)
After you have changed the clut colors, save your work and quit ResEdit
Replace the original GoMac control panel and restart the computer.
