| Add Custom MacAmp icons to Audio CD Tracks
Here's an edit that Michael Askew recently performed on his iMac to make CD tracks automatically open in MacAmp instead of the Apple CD Audio Player. While similar to another recent edit for the Apple Audio CD Player, I thought users of MacAmp, and other players, would appreciate this version.

Open the Audio CD Access extension in ResEdit and open the one and only NCOD resource.
Do an ASCII search and replace (Command-G) for "aucd" (the creator code for the Apple CD Audio Player) and replace with the creator code for your favorite player: "mAmp" for MacAmp, "SJAM" for SoundJam MP, "Audn" for Audion, or "mALT" for MacAmp Lite.

Close the Audio CD Access extension (saving changes) and open the application whose creator you entered above.
In this example, MacAmp.
Open the BNDL resources and create a new entry using the "Create New File Type" command (Command-K).
Enter "trak" as the file type and double click the icon column to choose an icon to associate with the CD tracks.
For extra credit create your own icon. I used a copy of the icon found on the "Red Book" MacAmp plug in and removed the word "plug".
Now open the FREF resources and create a new resource (Command-K). Enter "trak" for file type, the ID of the icon you chose for the second blank, and an appropriate description in the third blank.

Now save your work and restart. As your computer restarts hold down the Command and Option keys until you are asked if you want to rebuild your desktop file.
After the desktop file is done rebuiding, stick in an audio CD and check out the new look!
