| MacOS 9: Remove or Change the Logout Command Key
Maybe I'm a klutz, or too impatient, but I am constantly logging out when all I'm really trying to do is quit another application.
This simple edit removes the command key from the Logout menu item. The setting is stored in the Multi-User Startup extension.
Open a copy of the Multi-User Startup extension in ResEdit and scroll down to the STR# resources.
Open them with a double-click.
Scroll to item number 8 and you will see the string "Logout/Q".
To remove the command, delete /Q. Fell free to change it if you would like. How about Command-L?

Once you have made the change, your work and quit ResEdit.
Replace the original Multi-User Startup extension with the modified one and restart the computer.
No more Logout within an accidental Command-Q!
