| Shorten the Retry Delay for busy servers in the ftp client "Transmit"
 Mariel Longinger of the Macintosh Desktop Picture Collection sent this tip for Transmit to shorten the retry delay for busy servers. Normally the range is from 5 to 60 seconds. This little edit shortens it to one.
The way we do it to edit the preference file in the System folder. Transmit stores its settings in the DATA fork of the file. Since ResEdit can't edit data forks, you need to install a little extension called Forker 1.3.
After downloading the file, stick the extension in the System's Extension Folder and restart the computer.
 After thr restart, open the preferences for Transmit in ResEdit. You'll notice the the DataFork <DF> icon now that Forker is installed.
Open the DataFork with a double-click.
 There is only one ID, number 128.
Open it with a double-click.
 This preference file shows the minimum setting of 5 seconds.
Find the 05 hex in row 50.
 Change it to 01 hex.
This shortens the delay to one second.
Save your work and quit ResEdit.
I recommend you disable Forker from the Extensions until you need it again.
The next time you use Transmit on a busy server, the retry delay will be only one second!
