acur
Animated Cursors. Edit the sequence and speed of a group of cursors (CURS).

clut
Custom color tables are stored in these resources. Example.

crsr

Colored Cursors: Contains the easy to edit cursors from an application.

CURS

Cursors: Easy to edit Black & White cursors from the Finder, System, and Applications.
DITL

Dialog Boxes: Contains the text, buttons, and icons used to create dialog boxes in a program. Many of the items are easily customized. Don't renumber items, and always work on a copy.
dlgx

This resource contains the software switches that allow youto make some older software Theme aware. Example - Template. (1-31-00)

fold & FTyp

These resource types control what folders are controled by Apple's Extension Manager. Use the template to modify EM to control fonts, control strip modules, etc. Eample. - Template. (1-11-00)


fmn2

The names and item lists for the Finder menus are stored in this resource. Using this resource, and a third party template, you can add command keys, and rename menu items.

icns
A new 32 bit icon format introduced in MacOS 8. Unfortunately, ResEdit does not have an editor to graphically edit the icons. Two programs that can create and modify the resources are clip2icns and IconBuilder. Example.

ICN#, ics#, icl8, ics8, icl4, ics4

The Finder Icon Suite. This series of icons is present in most Macintosh files. They are used by the Finder in dialog boxes, folder windows, and any other instance when the Finder needs to display an icon. From the main page, you can do a search for one of the many icon edits on ResExcellence.
icm#, icm8, icm4

These newer mini-icons are primarily used in the Finder's list views. Example.

IEAI

This template by Robert Schultz allows you to add additional throbbers to Internet Explorer and/or alter the number of frames in any throbber sequence. (1-11-00)

KMAP
The settings in this resource let you remap the assignments of the keys on your keyboard. Example - Template. (1-31-00)

kind
By Damian Carter. Allows you to edit the kind resources contained in many applications. The idea is that if a program contains a 'kind' resource, files will be listed in the Finder's Kind column as, for example, "WordPerfect macro," rather than the generic "WordPerfect document." MENU
Contains the resources for the menus of an application. Allows you to: add color, icons, change names, and add command keys.

open

A resource associated with the Appearance Control panel that contains the Apple supplied "Themes". Example.

smly
This template by Jeremy Hoesly allows you to easily create key combinations to add smiles to AOL Instant Messanger. Example. - Template - Template version 3.5.897 (2-1-00)

snd

Sound files used by the OS and applications are often stored in snd resources. It hear these, select the resource and type Command-T. Example. - Template


sfn#

Under MacOS 8.0 and 8.1, this resource contains the names and font sizes for the fonts that can be diplayed in the Appearance Manager. Open using the STR# template for easier editing.


STR

While the STR may contain many ID numbers, each ID will only contain one item. These lines of text are used throughout a program and allow for easy language customization. Example.
