While working on a professional ProTools digital audio workstation, I was impressed with a feature that allows you to import a Quicktime move as a track to lay along side the audio for easier syncing of audio elements to picture.. You can't edit the movie with ProTools, but placing sound effects, dialog, and music is substantially easier than with iMovie or Final Cut Pro. Plus ProTools has all those great reverb and compression plugins to fully tweak your audio mix.

Then a light bulb lit up over my head (really it did)! How many of these features are supported in the FREE version of ProTools? It surprised me to find out all of them!

Imagine a situation where you create a great iMovie, but the sound track is complicated and iMovie's audio capabilities are not up to the task. For example, making a decent music edit in iMovie is nothing more than hit-or-miss.

You could print your project to a Quicktime movie for use as a work picture in ProTools. After sweetening the audio in ProTools, bounce the audio mix to an AIFF file for importing back into iMovie. Now your project can win an Academy Award!

Once again, something nice from KDE-Look. There is a simple tutorial on how to create glassy icons in the Aqua style, and this second one shows an additional way to do it.
