Is there a way to accelerate the Finder's zoom rects? I don't hate them so much that I want to completely get rid of them, but they really could be a little faster.

I know that Speed Doubler and the new Cassidy & Greene utility (I forget the name) do that, but I was wondering if anyone knows a way to do it with ResEdit? (yeah, I guess I'm too cheap to buy Speed Doubler just to do that). :-)

Seriously though, the utility from C&G is called Speed Startup and it _very_ noticably speeds up the Zooming Rectangles. Unfortunately the new Kaleidoscope kinda slowed them down again.

If anyone knows how to turn them off altogether, I would surely like to know how. There used to be a gestalt value to turn them off, but it doesn't seem to work in MacOS 8 and above.
