I am thinking about adding a DVD burner to my G4 for a video production project I am working on. My question is - what brands/models of DVD burners are compatible with Apple's software (ex. iDVD, DVD Studio pro, disk copy/disk utility in 10.3, etc.)?

Is there a list of compatible drives somewhere? I have seen a list that lists drives that can read DVDs that have been burned with an Apple SuperDrive. But I need to know what drives I can burn with to begin with.

At this point, it looks to me as if the Pioneer DVR-A04 is the only compatible model, but I thought I heard something about the G5 coming with a better one.

Try visiting www.xlr8yourmac.com, they have a very nice database of drives (hd, cd, cdrw, dvd, etc.) with user ratings and experiences.
I've used it to inform myself before buying a CPU upgrade or a CD RW replacement.

I bought the Pioneer DVR-106.
Works perfectly in my G4 733 w/ 10.3
The drive will burn +/- R/RW. I have only tried it with TDK -R so far though. they work with iDvd toast and everything.
