Repositioning a Printer Dialog Box Christian Boyce noticed this problem when printing from Quicken and perhaps it happens with other programs. It seems Quicken's Button Bar covers the Print dialog box so that you can't see all the options. Christian adds:
He performed this simple edit on his Epson driver, and I have tested it on several others, and it worked perfect everytime. In this example, we'll edit the Epson 740 driver. In fact, the most difficult part is searching for the correct resource.
In all the other print drivers I edited, the correct resource was in the standard Chooser Extension in the Extensions Folder.
Open a copy of the Stylus COLOR 740 Library in ResEdit and find the DLOG resources.
In the Epson Driver, ID# -8191 is called 'Job Dialog'. (It was also called that in several other drivers, but it's no guarantee.) Again, this is the toughest part, finding the correct DLOG.
When you open ID# -8191, you can see that's it's the correct dialog.
From the DLOG Menu, select Auto Position.Regardless of what the current setting is, change it to match the window below.
That's it! Save your work and quit ResEdit. Replace the original file with the modified one and restart the computer. The next time you print from that driver, the dialog box will be centered on your monitor.
