Wait, what month and year is this update from? Is anyone actually still paying for this domain? It’s been 18 months between the last few updates. I doubt any of the original ResExcellence fans are still around (or have lost patience with year-and-a-half update cycles). *Sigh* The original was good (a long time ago) while it lasted. @Doug – My comment was definitely tongue in cheek. I’ve been as frustrated as anyone else. I had contributed my small GUI offerings to the ResExcellence of old. I wish the site was even remotely functional.

@BuriedCaesar – In the previous post, in the comments, I had said I’d been along for the entire ride. I’ve read nearly all of your digging. Just how many shovels have you gone through? My point is only that two threads IS something. Not much, I’ll give you, but a twitch of life nonetheless. For now I’m remaining cautiously optimistic. In the mean time, I’ll hold a light while you dig.

After over a year of no posts, having two in as many weeks is at least promising.

The very fact that we now know that someone is actively trying to get this site back is a great news – if we aren’t just being teased along. Not knowing who, or what support that they have is troubling still, but I, for one, see this as hopeful.

I agree it would be great to know who the wizard behind the curtain is… Once this site does emerge from the ashes, I also want to know who to send my thanks to for finally coming through.

Hi there… I too miss ResExcellence (esp. since I just upgraded to Tiger and am in need of a good “Tiger-esque” Desktop Picture), but I’m not gonna rant and rave like some others have.

What do you need in terms of design? I can’t say I’m all that thrilled about the three mockups that were posted a while back, so I’d like to take a crack at it. I’m no pro (yet), but I’ve been doing my own design projects for 20 years, so I’m no novice either. My suggestion would be to play on the reference to “ResEdit” in the site’s name, since that’s where it all started. Would it be a no-no to build the design around the original ResEdit icon and/or interface? Just a suggestion. Feel free to e-mail if you’d like some design help.

Man, I used to love coming into this site. For a long time this site shone like a lighthouse among the darkest of times for Mac users. I know that times have changed and we are in a different Mac era, but it will be nice to regain a site like ResExcellence used to be if it were at all possible. Skeptics and mockers abound right now… it is understandable that the traumatic loss of this incredible place generate a little ire from its very loving fans. That’s why I don’t read to much into the critics’ comments. I really understand that to reach Res Excellence excellence (sorry for the redundancy) is not going to be easy. But i have a little bit of faith in those who are busting their chops to bring it back. A silent majority out there will be grateful when the site materializes and the gratitude will be showering in again.
If I understand a little bit about human behavior, this site will be supported and cherished like the old one was. Please, let us have this again.

Those of us who have been vocal will be equally grateful for something positive to happen on this site.

I personally won’t shower gratitude and/or “eat crow” when and if this site is up again, because none of us have anything to eat crow about! The previous owners of this site have treated their users poorly for 2 years. If anything, if the site comes back, the owners should be thanking US.

If this site had been lost due to someone’s personal tragedy, a lack of funding, a lack of support and/or community involvement, the wrath of a hosting company or something sympathetic like that, then perhaps the reaction would be more along the lines of “we have faith in you.” Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Like many old users, I have moved on to other sites that offer Mac GUI stuff. I return here only to see the comments grow. They’ll have to earn back our trust and gratitude–even the current “Team” would concede that!

PS: Don’t take my above comments as an insult, I obviously respect your opinion. It’s just that many of us are well beyond the point of having faith!

Just wondering if u guys do this…

I am a mac user, and using my mouse with my left hand. One thing has been bothering me is the pointer of the cursor is still pointing to left, as opposed to changing to right, while using with left hand.

Does any of your program modify the cursor direction at all? If not, just let u know that I’d be glad to pay for that app, as one of many mac users bothered by this.
