WooHoo!

WooHoo! That is what I said when I ran the link to ResExcellence. I had not done that in a very long time. I knew from Scott Chitwood that things were once again in limbo. This is the true “Mac-community” shining through. A group so dedicated to Mac, the Mac’s interface, and ones I would also consider dear friends have been passed the torch. This is a good hand-off and the way it should be.

Unsanity Booth at MWSF
(Jason Harris, Brian Wilson, Slava Karpenko, Cletusâ„¢, Michael Coyle)

Was this all written in the stars? A couple years back Michael Coyle (founder of ResExcellence) and I met up at MacWorld in San Francisco. We stopped by Unsanity’s booth. We had all corresponded via email over the years and were both supporters of each others endeavors. We felt we knew each other in a way. We even had the wives snap a quick picture or two. But time moves on and so did Michael and myself. We both went back to our personal lives and relaxation. But deep in our hearts we hoped ResExcellence would live on. Though I will not speak for Michael, I know he would agree. It was his baby from the start. Scott did an excellent job after we left. But I know it can be a lot of work, and burnout happens when it is but one person running such a large site.

I want all of the past, present and new ResExcellence readers to know that this transition is going to be good! This is what everyone will be talking about in the weeks and months to come. All I can say is hang on for the ride. ResExcellence is back and the plans indicate it will be better than ever.

Maybe Coyle will put his Bass ale down for a minute and speak about all of this. If all you dedicated readers yell loud enough it will get the few remaining hairs on the back of his neck aroused and I bet he chimes in!

I wish the new ResEx team— Brian, Jason, Phill, Slava, and others, all the best in this new effort. Remember: ResExcellence ROCKS!

I appreciate the resurrection of ResExcellence very much. I have been a faithful contributor for years before the debacle arose earlier this year.

It will be good to contribute again. :-)

iCletusâ„¢ — thanks for stopping by! :)

And yes we await a post from the founder. ResEx has been around long enough some people don’t know who that is!

November 7th, 2006 @ 7:16 am

I’m glad to see that things are starting to get back on track with ResEx – and I’m confident the Unsanity guys can bring the site back to it’s former glory.

As a contributor from back in the day when Michael ran things, and (at the time) having conversed frequently with him via email, I’ve been dying to know his thoughts on the recent history of ResExcellence.

C’mon Michael, time to give us your two cents.

November 7th, 2006 @ 8:35 am

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a regular visitor from almost the begining, and I loved doing things to my mac. And all because it was here. There had been a few (and I do mean few) sites that I would go to, but none equaled this site. I missed it terribly. It’s great to see it come back to life!!!!!
I also love the look of the logo!
Cheers and Congats!

When are you guys going to officially put up the site?

November 7th, 2006 @ 11:50 am

As someone who remembers the good old days as well I am really glad to have ResEx back and really glad to see Cletusâ„¢ give his thumbs up. Scott did a lot of work trying to live up to what were very high standards and did bring his own flavor to the site, but after it changed hands again it felt like the original mission statement kind of got lost in the shuffle. It really sounds like Brian and the new crew have really gone back to what made all of us come here and love the site in the first place. So much so that even the old timers are coming back and saying they support this new endeavor which means a lot to guys like me who put a lot of stock in what Michael Coyle and Cletus have to say. I look forward to a new tradition being born from the old values. Thanks again guys.

Um, does this mean we won’t be seeing any non-ShapeShifter theme action though? I mean, I know I’m not putting any money or love into the site, and I’m as thankful as anybody that the Unsanity guys are keeping this all from disappearing… but I personally don’t want to touch APE or anything that smells like it with a 10-foot-pole and came here because I was looking for some ThemeChanger compatible files.

Resexcellence is more than just a website for those of us who have watched it grow over the years. It’s the site that got me into doing graphics properly so many years ago and it really is good to hear some solid news of a resurrection.
The content has always been here, and this whole situation only started because the new gui and back end were brought in too early at the expense of new content. People are excited because the site was on the very edge of disappearing completely and now it finally looks like it has a stable foundation again.

Although I am a little out of sync with what actually happened to Resex since I stopped visiting on a weekly basis [back around ~ 2003, when I was still in my tenderer years(seriously)], I would like to express my appreciation for the fact that you guys are keeping everything going and I look forward with anticipation to what lies in store.
Keep it up!

Oh, my, can’t believe no one has put any comments in this thread since last year! Just doing my part… :) Maybe one of the owners will see my note and go read the MORE than 600 posts in the most “recent” thread, which is now more than 5 months old, if they haven’t been cowering in their ivory tower afraid of what the peasants might say or do if they actually appeared out on the balcony to make a pronouncement…
