ACTION! Utilities (Try also ACTION! Files, Menu's, GoMac and WYSIWYG.) Commercial |
I was a big fan of Now Utilities even through all the crashes! :) I was doubtful any version could exist that would work flawlessly. Power On may just have pulled it off though. Components released so far have proven very stable on my machine. Action Files will allow full customizing of the Open/Save dialog boxes, Action Menu's will provide you with just about any menu customizing you can think of. Action WYSIWYG will give you a visually informative font menu in most applications and GoMac will give you the (only) desirable feature of Windoze machines the Task Bar. A Resexcellence Edit will beef up almost any version of GoMac you may have! |

A-Dock (v1.3) 98K Shareware Compatible with Mac OS 9.0.x |
A-Dock by Jérome Foucher is like the Application Switcher that comes built-in with Mac OS but on steroids... What is different about it: A-Dock is minimized to one icon when you don't use it. So it saves space on your monitor. A-Dock is stuck to the screen edges. Switching your monitor resolution will not move the dock to a place you don't want like the App Switcher does everytime I play Quake 2. A-Dock displays a menu when you control-click (or click&hold with FinderPop) from where you can quit or hide an application. If Wapp pro 2.7 or newer is also installed, you have access to all the windows of each application. |

Cookie Cutter by Scott Burnham is a great little utility. From the read me: "There are a few applications available which trash the MagicCookie file on a regular basis. It allows you to selectively remove cookies that have been placed in your MagicCookie file."
Because the page is in German I have uploaded the file to ResExcellence for easier download. The Homepage is here however. |

Default App (v1.0.1) 143K Compatible with Mac OS 9 Freeware |
Default App just makes life on the computer so much simplier! It will allow you to select default programs to open files you commonly use. For instance, I will tell you how I use it. I use Graphic Converter to open all my graphic files. When I get a Photoshop file and all I want to do is view it, I prefer not to have PS open up when I double click the file. This is where Default App kicks in. A double click will automatically select Graphic Converter as the application that opens it. Plus as the read me states: "DIM doesn't get confused when you store the icon positions at one screen resolution and then restore them at a different screen resolution. In other words, if an icon is at the bottom right corner of the display when the icon positions are stored then that icon will always be placed at the bottom right corner regardless of the screen resolution." |
