| Modify Discolour to add a colored icon to a Zip disk.
Discolour is a five year old freeware extension by Andrew Welch of Ambrosia Software fame. It was originally used to replace the black and white floppy icon under System 7 with a colorful replacement.
This new modification to Discolour allows you change the boring Zip (or Jazz) icon.
A quick search of info-mac returns several Zip replacement icon sets from which to pick your replacement.
 Start by opening a copy of Discolour in ResEdit and find the ICN# resources.
Open them with a double-click.
 What Discolour does is look for a black and white icon that exactly matches ICN#256. Once a match is found, the color icon, icl8, is used patched as a replacement.
 Insert a Zip drive, and from the "Get Info" window, copy the black and white Zip icon to the clipboard and paste it into ICN#256 in Discolour.
 Open icl8 ID# 256, and paste in your color Zip replacement from info-mac. remember to drag it into the other color bit depths and the mask.
Do not change the ICN#.
To summarize, the changes all happen to icon ID 256. The black and white one is the original Zip icon, the others, including the Mask, are your color replacement.
Save your work and quit ResEdit. Place Discolour in the Extensions folder and restart the computer. Insert a Zip disk to see the new icon.
