| Replace the Apple Menu Icon (8.5)
Apple has replaced the original milti-colored Apple logo with the new blue G3 version. This little edit lets you use clip2icns to create a 32 bit icon and replace the correct resource in the System.
 Start by downloading the prepared PICT file of the new Apple logo in SimpleText format.
You can use this file as a template if you wish to change the color of the logo to match an iMac!
If you like the icon the way it is, select all of it (Command-A) and copy it to the clipboard (Command-C).
 If you don't already have it, download clip2icns and launch it.
After making sure the clipboard still contains the logo template, from the File menu select New Icon File.
 You will be presented with this window which asks which icns resource number you want to assign to your new creation.
Use the popup menus to match the choices on the left.

After saving the file, quit clip2icns and open the new icon file in ResEdit alongside a copy of the System Resources file (located in the System Folder).
Click once on the new icns resouce and copy it to the clipboard. Switch windows to the System Resources file and paste in the new resource. Select Yes to the dialog on replacing resource ID numbers.
 Replace the original System Resource with the new version and restart the computer to see the new Apple Logo! |
